Supplies

  • Fabric
  • Sewing Machine
  • String
  • Pair of scissors
  • Instructions

    1. Lay out the material with the side you don't want to show facing up. Cutting the long way on the material, cut about 12-14 inches wide. (Half this will be how wide your scarf is. Soft Winter Scarf Soft Winter Scarf
    2. After you cut the material, fold the scarf in half the long way and pin the edges all the way down.
    3. Starting at one end, begin sewing and don't forget to back stitch to keep the edge together. Continue to the end of the scarf and back stitch there as well. Soft Winter Scarf
    4. Cut your excess string and turn right side out. Now you have the side up that you want your scarf to be and the seam on the inside. Soft Winter Scarf
    5. Since I am using a very furry material, I am choosing the close the seams from the outside on this scarf. You won't see the seams with all the material. You can this with any material as well, your stitch will just be showing. Sew along the edge, starting at one end and going to the other. Be sure you back stitch. Soft Winter Scarf
    6. If you don't want your stitch to show, sew one end closed when it is inside out. Then stitch about half of the other end. You will need enough room to turn it right side out. Then you would stitch the remaining hole by hand. Soft Winter Scarf
    7. Now wear and enjoy! Make one to go with each coat you have or to match your favorite hat. This can make a great gift to give as well.
