Featured Crafter

Please welcome Jennifer Alcivar! Her friends call her Jen, so that is how I will refer to her. I'd like to think Jen and I are friends! She is such a sweet lady and a great artist! You will love all of her work and find yourself addicted and always coming back for more! Here's a little more about Jen in her own words.

I am lucky enough to be married to my very best friend, Leon. We have been friends for over 23 years! We live in the small town of Lantana, Florida with our four children; Amanda 18, Samantha 17, Toby 15, and Jessica 12, and our three dogs. I am a Technology Coordinator in a Palm Beach County Elementary School. I just love my job, working with the students and fixing computers. The best of both worlds! I am also the newest Design Team member for The Saltbox Studio. If you have not seen these stamps yet you must check them out! So cute with a warm country charm.

Here are some links Jen thought we should share with you.

I also asked Jen a few questions I thought would be fun to hear answers to.

How did you get started with crafts?
My Mom got me started in crafts as a child and as I got older we did the country craft fair at our Church together for years. It was shortly after the birth of my fourth child that I got into stamping with an online friend in California. Within a few years scrapbooking and all other altered paper crafts followed. But card making is my real passion. I love being able to make personal cards for the special people in my life.

How much time per day do you spend on your crafts? Is it enough? :)
Since I do work full time I don't always get to create each day but I do try to set aside a few hours for some "me" time in my craft room. Now that the kids are getting older I am able to make more time but NO it is never enough. :)

What is your favorite craft item to use or project to make?
This is a tough question! I use my Prismacolor Pencils ALL the time so I could not live without them and I am loving my Nestabilities Dies. I just bought the new extra large rectangle sets that were released at CHA.

Where do you get your inspiration (for your stamp creating or card making)?
I usually find inspiration were I least expect to, so I always have a notebook with me to write down ideas before I forget them. Of course blogs and magazines are a great source. And I get tons of ideas from my students.

Do you have any advice for fellow crafters out there? Words of wisdom, perhaps? :)
Just have fun! I have tried so many hobbies over the years and paper crafting is really the one without ANY rules! Whatever you like goes.

Again, you are going to love absolutely everything Jen Creates. She has such a simple, elegant graceful charm to her creations. I am always inspired by her! I am sure you will be, too!

Jen,

Your cards are WONDERFUL. I love the way you color in your images and the different layouts you do. I hope we see more of your work.

Congrats to you!
