Featured Crafter

Please welcome Maria Levine. She has some wonderfully inspiring work. I have got to try out some of her card layouts! To see what I am talking about, check out her blog or her SplitCoast Gallery. You won't be disappointed. Here's a little more about Maria in her own words.

I am a SAHM to boy/girl twins who are turning 2 this month! I have been married to my wonderful husband for 7 years and together for almost 14! I am currently on the Guest Design Team for Starving Artistamps and I am the current Guest Designer for Mothers and Daughters Creations.

I also asked Maria a few questions I thought would be fun to hear answers to.

How did you get started with crafts?
One of my favorite classes in school was art class. I have always for as long as I can remember loved doing something creative. As a young child I used to love coloring and would get so mad if I went outside the lines. As I got a bit older I used to draw all the time. My favorite was drawing the Archie Comics. I think I still have my sketch pads and looking back at them now they were pretty darn good. It was no surprise when about 6 years ago I was asked to attend a Stampin' Up! party. “A stamping what?” was my response. I had no clue what that one little party would turn into. A passion? Obsession? Oh too many words to describe as so many of you know. I loved stamping from the moment I stamped that Bear to the paper (yes my first set was Button Bear) I was a Stampin' Up! demo for a couple of years as well. While I was working full time and then pregnant with twins I was not stamping much, but after the babies where born I went back into it and with full steam ahead and have not looked back.

How much time per day do you spend on your crafts? Is it enough? :)
I made a deal with myself to do some stamping or at least something related to stamping every day! I usually get about 1 – 2 hours a day, when the kids are sleeping or when I can sneak away and let DH play with them. Some days it’s not enough but others it’s fine.

What is your favorite craft item to use or project to make?
Since Christmas my favorite craft item has been my Cuttlebug! Gotta love the bug. I say to my DH every time I use it that it’s the best Christmas gift ever!

Where do you get your inspiration (for your stamp creating or card making)?
Inspiration comes from all over. Sometimes I find myself out to dinner and I notice a picture in the restaurant and think “That would make a nice layout”, that always make my husband laugh and shake is head. I also love SplitCoastStampers! Loads of inspiration there and wonderful challenges.

Do you have any advice for fellow crafters out there? Words of wisdom, perhaps? :)
Keep plugging away. I feel like I came a long way since I started to stamp and more so in the last year. Stay in touch with all the great companies and products out there. Definitively join SCS there you will find loads of information on anything you need to know about stamping and scrapbooking.

It was such a challenge to pick photos from all of Maria's inspiring work. But with a little help from her, I picked some to share with you!
